CHRISTMAS DAY ACTIVITIES IN NEW YORK CITY
If you’re trying to break out of the tradition of Chinese food and a movie on Christmas Day, are looking to skip out on holiday dinner, or are visiting NYC and are in need of fun things to do, there are plenty of locales open on Christmas Day in New York City! Here is our list of ideas:
Go Out to Eat:

Catch a Movie:
If there’s one spot that can be trusted nationwide to be open on Christmas it’s the movie theaters and there are a quite a few anticipated blockbusters hitting the big screen on the 25th! We’re looking forward to Wolf of Wall Street starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty starring Ben Stiller and Kristin Wig. It will also be a very special Christmas this year for Beleibers around the world, as Justin Beiber’s second full length feature film, Believe will be released in theaters 12/25.
If you’re looking to enhance your Christmas spirit, catch a screening of the holiday classic It’s a Wonderful Life at the IFC Center located at 323 Sixth Avenue at West Third Street in Manhattan.

See a Broadway Show
Don’t expect the great white way to shut down for the holidays. According to Playbill, there are still seats available on December 25th for the following shows: After Midnight, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Big Fish, Cinderella, Chicago, Mamma Mia!, Matilda, Motown: The Musical, A Night with Janis Joplin, The Phantom of the Opera, Rock of Ages, A Time to Kill and Wicked.

Although Christmas is better known for it’s football than basketball, the NBA doesn’t shutdown for the holiday and this year both the Knicks and Nets will be playing at home on December 25th. Grab tickets to see the Chicago Bulls take on the Brooklyn Nets at 12:00pm at Barclays Center or stay in Manhattan and watch the Oklahoma City Thunder play the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
