WHAT’S FILMING IN NEW YORK IN APRIL 2019?

What’s filming this month? New seasons of Younger, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and SVU, plus new projects from Jennifer Lopez and Michael Keaton.

 

Hustlers

Starring: Jennifer Lopez

Filming: East Fordham Road & Marion Avenue, Bronx

Produced by Will Ferrell and telling the story of strippers who turn the tables on their Wall Street clients, this 2020 film also stars Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, Cardi B, Keke Palmer, Madeline Brewer, and Julia Stiles.

 

Younger

Starring: Sutton Foster, Hilary Duff

Filming: West 40th Street & 9th Avenue, Manhattan

The upcoming sixth season will premiere on TV Land this summer.

 

City on a Hill

Starring: Kevin Bacon

Filming: Washington Square Park, Manhattan

Set mostly in Boston, this new drama is set to premiere on Showtime in June. The series is based on an idea by Ben Affleck, telling a fictionalized account of the “Boston Miracle,” with a group of cops taking on a family of car robbers.

 

Law & Order: SVU

Starring: Mariska Hargitay

Filming: Chelsea Piers, Manhattan

Renewed for Season 21, SVU will soon pass Gunsmoke for the longest running drama in the U.S., and we can’t wait for Olivia Benson to solve more cases in NYC.

 

Sisters

Starring: TBA

Filming: Broadway & West 37th Street, Manhattan

From the creators of Desperate Housewives comes a new Fox drama about a girl who tracks down her long lost brothers and sisters after finding out her dad donated sperm multiple times, based on the Australian series of the same name.

 

The Deuce

Starring: James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal

Filming: Parsons Boulevard & Grand Central Parkway, Queens

The Deuce is set to return to HBO for a third and final season, as the show illustrates the porn industry in New York in the 1970s and 80s.

 

What Is Life Worth

Starring: Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci

Filming: 24th Avenue & Crescent Street, Astoria

Michael Keaton stars as Kenneth Feinberg, the DC lawyer put in charge of the 9/11 fund.

 

Succession

Starring: Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin

Filming: Madison Avenue & 90th Street, Manhattan

The first season of the HBO drama aired last summer, and season two is expected to come later in 2019. We can’t wait to see more of the dysfunctional Roy family as they transition their global media company among lots of family drama.

 

The Undoing

Starring: Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Lily Rabe

Filming: Madison Avenue & 90th Street, Manhattan

Also executive produced by Kidman, this upcoming HBO miniseries is based on the mystery thriller book You Should Have Known.

 

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Starring: Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein

Filming: 11th Avenue & West 27th Street, Manhattan

Fresh off multiple Emmy wins, the third season is being shot on location in NYC and we can’t wait for it to premiere on Amazon.

 

Lincoln

Starring: TBA

Filming: Bay Street & Vanderbilt Avenue, Staten Island

A new NBC pilot based on the 1999 film The Bone Collector starring Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington.

 

Mr. Robot

Starring: Rami Malek, Christian Slater

Filming: Broadway & West 27th Street, Manhattan

Fresh off his Oscar win for Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek returns to Mr. Robot for a final season of the hacker thriller, set to air on USA later this year.

 

FBI

Starring: Missy Peregrym, Jeremy Sisto

Filming: 53rd Street & 6th Avenue, Manhattan

The CBS crime drama series was renewed for a second season, as the first one continues to air up until summer.

 

Blue Bloods

Starring: Donnie Wahlberg, Tom Selleck

Filming: Murray Street & Greenwich Street, Manhattan

The CBS police procedural is in the thick of it’s ninth season, with more NYC locations than ever.
