PROSPECT PARK FILMING LOCATIONS

In the New York City Borough of Brooklyn lies Prospect Park, one of On Location Tours favorite areas, is surrounded by some of the greatest Brooklyn neighborhoods which include Windsor Terrace, Park Slope, Flatbush, and Kensington.

Prospect Park is a beautiful fixture to the Brooklyn borough and was designed by the same men that created Central Park in Manhattan. One of the best aspects of Prospect Park is the Brooklyn-Queens Greenway. This path is exclusively for pedestrians and bicyclists and passes through the park and will lead individuals to other must see sights like Coney Island, Brooklyn Museum, New York Aquarium, Citi Field, New York Hall of Science, and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, containing beautiful Cherry Trees, The Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, The Cranford Rose Garden, The Shakespeare Garden, The Alice Recknagel Ireys Fragrance Garden, and The Children’s Garden.

Everyone agrees that the Prospect Park Zoo is one of the greatest jewels in the neighborhood. This zoo offers education programs for children, works towards restoring endangered species populations, and offers themed exhibits to educate and delight visitors. These exhibits include the World of Animals, Animal Lifestyles, and Animals in Our Lives.

Located on the Eastern end of Prospect Park is Boathouse on the Lullwater of the Lake. This boathouse is historically preserved and transports visitors to the past with beautiful architecture which shares features reminiscent of Penn Station. The Boathouse has also been featured in the Scorsese movie The Age of Innocence starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Winona Rider and Michelle Pfeiffer.  Other must -see sights in Prospect Park include The Bandshell where free outdoor concerts are hosted, multiple sport fields, Long Meadow, and The Society of Friends cemetery where actor Montgomery Clift is laid to rest.

Other great filming locations include the Terrace Bagel Diner where the movie I Hate Valentine’s Day was filmed and La P’tit Paris which was the bakery from cinema hit As Good as It Gets with the all-star cast that included Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear, and Cuba Gooding Jr.  Other filming locations seen include sites from Smoke Shop and Blue In The Face, which is right next door to the fantastic Farrells Bar & Grill, Australian Pie Store, and the Sewing Place.
