COYOTE UGLY

When Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) heads to New York to become a songwriter, she finds out it is harder than it looks. Violet gets rejected over and over again when she soon has to find a side gig working as a barmaid at “Coyote Ugly.”

The female bartenders are known as “coyotes” and have to perform on stage. Violet is shy at first, but soon becomes the bar’s top performer. She also meets the attention os a customer named Kevin O’Donnell (Adam Garcia). Violet is reinventing herself as she takes on a new lifestyle.

The movie was mainly filmed throughout New York:

  • Violet Sanford’s apartment is located at 165 Mott Street and Broome Street, Manhattan.
  • Some other streets in Manhattan where the movie was filmed included:
    • Ariene Grocery on 95

    • Division Street
  • The building on West 13th Street, between 10th Avenue and Washington Street was destroyed and turned into a hotel.

In 2003, the song in the film “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” written by Diane Warren won Most Performed Song from a Motion Picture at the ASCAP Awards. Piper Perabo was a 2001 MTV Movie Nominee for Breakthrough Female Performance and Best Music Moment.
