Lenny Feder (Adam Sandler) moves back to his hometown with his family in order to be back with his friends. He reconnects with old bullies, party crashers and old friends. Some of his old friends include Eric (Kevin James), Kurt (Chris Rock), and Marcus (David Spoke). As Lenny has moved back to his hometown, he deals with different challenges getting his wealthy family to fit in, and get along with his friends’ kids as well.

Grown Ups was filmed in multiple different locations, but it mainly took place in different locations throughout Massachusetts:

  • The lake house was filmed at 99 Centennial Grove Rd in Essex, Massachusetts.
  • The funeral scene at the beginning of the movie was filmed at Pilgrim Congregational Church on 15 Common Street in Southborough, Massachusetts.
  • Some other Massachusetts towns we see featured in the film include Marblehead, East Wareham and Boston.

Some interesting facts about Grown Ups:

  • Adam Sandler wrote the movie and was supposed to be released in the mid 1990s with Chris Farley instead of Kevin James. After Farley passed in 1997, the movie was out for another decade.
  • Maya Rudolph was actually pregnant with her second child while filming.
  • The film won the MTV Movie Award for Best Line in 2011.
  • The movie also won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Comedic Movie.
