MONEYBALL FILMING LOCATIONS

Nothing says Boston like baseball! The 2011 sports drama Moneyball starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill mostly takes place in California, as the team they are managing is the Oakland Athletics. In the end of the movie, there is a scene that takes place in Fenway Park, and was actually filmed on location at America’s favorite ballpark, which can be viewed on our private Boston TV & Movie Sites Tour.

The scene depicts when Oakland general manager Billy Beane took an untraditional approach to picking teams and led the Athletics to a 19 game winning streak in the 2002 season.

After the new method was found to be so successful, the Boston Red Sox gave Beane an offer to become the team’s general manager for a stunning $12.5 million. This scene concludes the movie and was shot in Fenway Park, as Beane turned down the offer to stay with Oakland. Interestingly enough, the Red Sox would later go on to win the 2004 World Series using the same method Beane devised for picking players.
