DOCTOR WHO FILMING LOCATIONS

If you could go anywhere in time and space, where would you go? New York City, of course! The famous madman in a box and his loyal companions from Doctor Who have flown across the “Pond” twice now to visit the Big Apple. While you’re here, don’t miss some of these memorable locations, which you’ll find are often bigger on the inside.

Make sure you check out the Great Lawn in Central Park, where the Doctor and Martha Jones spend time in Hooverville with the showgirl Tallulah and her boyfriend Laszlo, under the shadow of the newly built Empire State Building aka Dalek stronghold. (Don’t worry, though, the Empire State Building is now Dalekanium-free. We checked.) Then, head on over to the Majestic Theater, where Tallulah works, and the Doctor has a showdown with the Daleks.

Jump forward in time, and you may pass other Central Park TV & Movie Sites locations that remind you of the Doctor’s adventures with Amy, Rory, and River Song, such as the Bow Bridge and Bethesda Fountain where he, Amy, and Rory have a picnic and read a very interesting book. Stand on the rock near Gapstow Bridge where Rory specifically remembers not noticing the lines around Amy’s eyes. Or stroll through the Mall, where the Doctor sits on a bench and finally reads the last page. Watch where you step, or you may end up at Tudor City Place on East 43rd St., aka Winter Quay, where Rory is trapped in an infinite time loop caused by the Weeping Angels. Don’t try to go inside though—not because it’s an infinite time loop, but because the lower parts of the building, including the interior, were filmed in Cardiff, Wales.

Also because it might be an infinite time loop.

When you visit the Statue of Liberty, see if you can spot where the Doctor parks the TARDIS on Liberty Island. Or look under the Brooklyn Bridge, where it’s parked the second time. While you’re there, check out the Way Station, a TARDIS-themed bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Who knows, maybe you’ll even spot a suspicious blue box emitting a strange whirring sound?

Spoilers.

Oh, and all those statues you see around town? Well, it is the city that never sleeps…but just to be safe…don’t blink!!
