GOOD WILL HUNTING FILMING LOCATIONS

When Good Will Hunting debuted in 1997 it put the city of Boston and writers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck on the movie map! The story follows Will Hunting (Matt Damon), a dropout genius unwilling to work towards his potential who suddenly finds himself with the opportunity to turn his life around. As Boston natives, Damon and Affleck knew the best spots in Beantown to help tell the story of Will Hunting. Follow in the footsteps of these legends and countless others on a Boston TV & Movie Sites Tour!

Locations featured in Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting is renowned for showing us the sides of Boston unfamiliar to most people, even locals themselves. South Boston, also known as “Southie,” has always been a tough neighborhood, so it fit well with Will and Chuckie’s (Ben Affleck) rough attitudes. These attitudes are also what led them to the South Boston District Municipal Court. Still in use today, the court handles cases of all manners.

The most popular filming location featured in Good Will Hunting is Will and Chuckie’s hometown Irish pub. Since filming, The L Street Tavern has gotten a face-lift, but it’s still a staple of Southie. Tour-goers on the Boston TV & Movie Sites Tour have the opportunity to kick back and relax with a drink like Damon and Affleck.

60 State St is where Chuckie heads to an interview pretending to be Will. All goes well as Chuckie demands a cash retainer if he (acting as Will) is to take this job offer seriously.

Bunker Hill Community College becomes the place Will and his therapist Sean (Robin Williams) connect. Through his guidance Will understands he can fulfill his potential at his own pace.

The famous bench where Will and Sean (Robin Williams) have a heart-to-heart conversation is located on the Boston Common. Join us on the Boston Movie Mile walking tour where you’ll have the opportunity to take a selfie on the bench.
