BABY BOOM FILMING LOCATIONS

In Baby Boom, the 1987 comedy, J.C. Wiatt, played by Diane Keaton, is a successful New York business woman.  She gets news of an inheritance from a relative from another country and assumes it will be money.  Instead, it turns out to be a baby girl.  J.C. is now stuck with a baby, a situation that definitely does not fit her fast-paced, busy New York City lifestyle. Her boyfriend doesn’t like the idea of a baby living with them and takes off, prompting J.C. to look into adoption.  Finding herself too attached to let go, J.C. experiences one life-changing event after another when she also loses her job. She sets her eyes on an old two-story cottage in Vermont to escape the New York life. She gets bored one snowy day and decides to make applesauce. Her baby loves it and she gets the great idea to package it and sell it as baby food. Pretty soon everyone wants some of the baby applesauce. J.C. hits it big and also falls in love with a local veterinarian, Jeff, played by Sam Shepard.

Diane Keaton is a household name who has won an Oscar as well as two Golden Globes.  Two of these awards were for the movie Annie Hall, a comedy written and directed by Woody Allen.  Keaton played the love interest of Woody Allen’s character, Alvy Singer.  Other movies that Diane Keaton is well known for include The Godfather, The Godfather: Part II, The Good Mother, Father of the Bride, The Other Sister, Something’s Gotta Give,The First Wives Club, Look Who’s Talking Now, Terminal Impact, The Family Stone, Because I Said So, and Mad Money.

On the NYC TV & Movie Tour you’ll get to see the Pierre Hotel, where, in a hilarious scene, J.C. tries to check her baby into a coat check so she can have drinks with colleagues!  Don’t miss the building where J.C. works, and the toy store where J.C. goes to buy lots of toys for the baby out of guilt after trying to put her up for adoption, FAO Schwarz (now closed).  These fun, guided tours of Manhattan will be the highlight of your visit, and leave you feeling like you just stepped off the set of a movie.
