Detention?!?! What now? An unlikely friendship comes as a result of 5 high school students falling victim to their power hungry principal. The essay they were then assigned to do, of course never gets done as they ignore the rules and feed into their teenage energy. With peer pressure, relationships, and scandals, this bunch finds themselves regardless of their cliques.
Judd Nelson kicked off his career as John Bender, acting as the main protagonist in the movie. As the criminal of the group, he constantly took enjoyment in provoking the others and creating chaos. The rest of the breakfast club includes Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estevez, and Anthony Michael Hall as Claire, Allison, Andrew, and Brian.
Unlike most other movies, the entirety of the movie is set in Shermer High School. Trust me, it’s not like most others though! How can so much happen in the confinement of one building! Join the breakfast club where it all began:

Taking note of the actors incredible talents, the scene in which the group spill their life stories and secrets to each other was completely ad libbed! They had no script, and instead decided to improvise the whole thing! Funny enough, the actors’ initial roles were questioned often. Originally, Emilio Estevez was cast as John Bender, but when nobody was able to be found for the “Andrew” role, he ultimately switched. Additionally, Molly Ringwald was asked to play Allison, but she insisted she wanted to be Claire until the directors let her. On a “grosser” note, not everything on screen was how it seemed. The dandruff on Allison’s hair in the movie was actually parmesan cheese, and the marijuana the kids smoked was actually oregano!
