5 THINGS TO DO CHRISTMAS DAY IN NYC
New York City’s busiest time of year is certainly the holiday season. Crowds multiply and tensions rise in search of the best deals and brightest storefronts. The anticipation builds through December until that day arrives… the quietest one of the year! Christmas Day doesn’t have to be a day of couch confinement though. Get out and celebrate a day without long lines. Now that’s a holiday!
Here are the top five activities for all those ready to mix it up in NYC on December 25th:
Take In The Sights
Take a moment on Christmas Day to check out the attractions that are usually overly crowded during the year. Madame Tussauds, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium, and Discover Times Square are open to the public all day. You’ll have plenty of time to mingle with the wax figures and oddities.
See a Show
Sports fan, theatergoer, or both, there is plenty of action happening on Christmas Day. Check out the afternoon Knicks vs. Wizards game at Madison Square Garden. Then take in an evening Broadway show of Cinderella, Wicked, or Matilda – The Musical. True to the familiar saying, “The show must go on!”
Take a TV & Movie Sites Tour
Take in the glamor of the city’s prettiest season while seeing TV and movie locations the entire family knows. On the Holiday Lights & Movie Sites Tour, guests are taken to New York’s beautiful window displays, grandiose trees, and famous holiday movie sites. Or cozy up with the classics on the TCM Classic Film Tour to see the iconic movie locations that helped make Manhattan the movie capital of the world.
Dine With the Animals
Stop by one of the wonderful Zoo’s that will be open and share in some holiday cheer with animal friends. The residents of the Prospect Park, Queens, and Central Park Zoo’s, including the Coney Island Aquarium, will all be awaiting your arrival. Without the usual crowds, you’ll practically be their house guest… just don’t eat what they’re having!
Treat Yourself
This just in – several spas are open on Christmas Day. Check out Spa Castle or Le Cachet for the rejuvenation needed to end 2014 right and bring in the New Year. Finish the day at a fancy restaurant (and just tell your family you were too ill to attend yet another ugly sweater party).
