Filming in NYC: October Edition

 

From old favorites like Orange is the New Black to new projects like Bad Education, plenty is being filmed in NYC this month. Check out the full list.

 

Orange is the New Black

Starring: Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon

Filming: 30th Avenue and 33rd Street, Astoria

Although Season 6 of Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black was just released, we’re already awaiting Season 7, filming now in Astoria, Queens, and set to stream next summer.

 

Bad Education

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Allison Janney

Filming: Ranch Lane and Abbey Lane, Levittown

With a cast with the likes of Hugh Jackman, Allison Janney, Alex Wolff, and Ray Romano, and director Cory Finley of Thouroughbreads fame, we can’t wait to see this dramedy, set for release next year.

 

Blue Bloods

Starring: Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Tom Selleck

Filming: 46th Avenue and Center Boulevard, Long Island City

We’re so excited to see the new development in the Reagan family, that Eddie and Jamie are finally getting married, and how it sets up the upcoming 9th season in NYC.

 

Panic

Starring: Will Chase

Filming: Tallman Mountain State Park

In this high concept TV movie for Amazon, Will Chase stars as a sheriff in a small town where high school teenagers compete to be able to leave the town.

 

Manifest

Starring: Josh Dallas

Filming: Park Avenue and East 75th Street, Manhattan

In this new NBC high concept series, a group of passengers survive a three hour plane crash and find out that five years have passed in the world around them.

 

Modern Love

Starring: TBA

Filming: Degraw Street and Clinton Street, Brooklyn

Based on the New York Times column, this rom-com anthology series is written and directed by the creator of Once and Sing Street, and is set to premiere on Amazon next year.

 

Gotham

Starring: Ben McKenzie

Filming: Steiner Studios, Brooklyn

After Gotham City was evacuated at the end of last season, it will be interesting to see where the show goes from here. The fifth and final season of the superhero centred show is coming in early 2019 and you can see locations from the show on our Super Tour of NYC.

 

New Amsterdam

Starring: Ryan Eggold

Filming: Bedford Avenue and Sterling Place, Brooklyn

This new NBC medial series has the coveted post This Is Us spot, and season 1 continues to film in Brooklyn.

 

Law & Order: SVU

Starring: Mariska Hargitay

Filming: West 20th Street and 9th Avenue, Manhattan

Upcoming Season 12 of SVU will allow it to be tied with Gunsmoke for the longest running drama in the U.S., and we can’t wait for Olivia Benson to solve more cases in NYC.

 

Tigertail

Starring: John Cho

Filming: Canal Street and Allen Street, Manhattan

From the mind of Alan Yang of Master of None and Parks and Recreation fame comes a new Netflix original film starring John Cho, based on Yang’s family in 1950s Vietnam and present day New York City.

 

The Blacklist

Starring: James Spader

Filming: 5th Avenue and 10th Street, Manhattan

Filming of Season 6 is underway for this NBC hit, with James Spader and Megan Boone returning.

 

Billions

Starring: Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis

Filming: Church Street and Reade Street, Manhattan

The end of season 3 saw (spoiler) Taylor creating a new firm, and we can’t wait to see what happens next in this financial Showtime drama.

 

God Friended Me

Starring: Brandon Michael Hall

Filming: Greenwich Street and Warren Street, Manhattan

This new fantasy dramedy, surrounding God friending an atheist on Facebook, premiered on CBS last month, and filming for Season 1 is still underway.

 

Tell Me A Story

Starring: Billy Magnussen, Kim Cattrall

Filming: Beverley Road and East 21st Street, Brooklyn

This new psychological thriller TV series is set to premiere on CBS All Access this fall. The series is based on the Mexican show Habia una vez and is being developed for American audiences by Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson.

 

Bull

Starring: Michael Weatherly

Filming: Grand Street and Kent Avenue, Manhattan

Having just returned for its third season on CBS, Bull is filming in Lower Manhattan. The series is based on Dr. Phil’s early career as a trial consultant.

 

Instinct

Starring: Alan Cumming

Filming: Broadway Stages, Brooklyn

Based on the book Murder Games, Instinct is returning for a second season on CBS, Alan Cumming stars in this procedural thriller taking place in NYC.

 

Jessica Jones

Starring: Krysten Ritter

Filming: 3rd Street and Berry Street, Brooklyn

Jessica Jones Season 3 is currently being filmed in Brooklyn, and we can’t wait for it to hit Netflix, and to add new locations to our Super Tour of NYC.
