Cafe Society is a romantic drama-comedy that follows a young Bronx native, Bobby (Jesse Eiensberg). He moves to Hollywood to work for his uncle Phil Stern (Steve Carell) who is a very successful talent agent. While Bobby is trying to get the hang of the new lifestyle in Hollywood, he falls in love with Phil’s secretary, Vonnie (Kristen Stewart). Vonnie is already in a complicated relationship, so Bobby needs to figure out what he is going to decide in this sticky situation.
The movie was filmed primarily in New York and LA:
- The location Vonnie and Bobby kissed was Bow Bridge in Central Park in Manhattan.
- Phil’s office was at the Hotel Constance Pasadena.
- The mansion was on Kingman Avenue.
- North Kenmore Avenue was where Bobby’s apartment was located.
In 2017, the film was nominated for Best Foreign film, directed by Woody Allen at the Golden Eagle awards. Also in 2017, the film was nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Casting at the Artios Awards.
