TOP 5 NYC WEDDING MOMENTS IN TV & FILM

By

Summer wedding season is in full swing!  By now, you’ve probably been to two or three celebrations and have another five lined up from now through September.  Ah yes, love is a beautiful thing, especially when the unity of two people is celebrated in the greatest city of all, New York City!  Here’s a breakdown of our top 5 NYC wedding moments from TV & film:

#5  –  30 Rock:  When it comes to comedy, nothing beats the hilarious wedding of Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and Criss (James Marsden) at City Hall.

#4  –  Made of Honor: This romantic comedy starring Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan is full of New York City moments where the main characters, Tom and Hannah, reside.  Some of our favorite moments:

– Tom and Hannah meet the priest officiating Hannah’s wedding at Grace Church (Broadway and E 10th).
– Tom and Hannah enjoy strolling around Central Park, specifically across Bow Bridge.
– When Hannah takes a trip to Scotland, Tom reflects on how much he misses her while sitting at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.

#3  –  27 Dresses: “Always a bridesmaid, never a bride,” has never been truer for Jane (Katherine Heigl). Jane’s dream wedding location has always been the Central Park Boat House until her sister, Tess, becomes engaged first and hijacks Jane’s wedding fantasies.  A major blowout between Tess and Jane also happens in Central Park.

#2  –  Sex and the City (The Movie):  How can we ever forget the heartbreaking scene at the New York Public Library when Carrie is stood up by Mr. Big on their wedding day? Lucky for us (and them!), Mr. Big and Carrie reunite and are married at Kings County Supreme Court in Brooklyn followed by a celebratory meal at the famous Junior’s Restaurant.

#1  –  Bride Wars: Everything about this flick is centered around New York City weddings.  When two best friends, Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway), find themselves double-booked to be married at The Plaza on the same day, total chaos ensues. A variety of NYC locations from Bloomingdales to Central Park are featured in this beloved chick flick.

And for all of you reality TV junkies, we can’t forget to mention the famous Kleinfeld bridal store seen on TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress located at 110 W 20th Street in Manhattan.
