TOP 5 FILMING LOCATIONS PERFECT FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

By Anjuli Johnson

Love is in the air during the month of February. In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, we’ve pulled together a Top 5 list of NYC movie & TV locations perfect for Valentine’s Day. Grab your sweetheart and explore these romantic filming sites for a perfect date.

1. Serendipity 3 (Serendipity)
It will be crowded – on a normal day you’d have a 2 hour wait – so you’ll have to get there early, but the wait will be worth it. And with a bit of luck, you could be seated at the table for two where Sara and Jonathan enjoyed Frrrozen Hot Chocolates on the fateful night they met in Serendipity. Here’s a tip: eat dinner in the neighborhood while you’re waiting and then indulge in Serendipity 3’s endless dessert menu.

2. Empire State Building Observation Deck (Sleepless in Seattle)
Yes, it’s a cliché since it’s been the go-to romantic spot in movies and TV shows (like Sleepless in Seattle, An Affair to Remember, Gossip Girl, and The Mindy Project) for years. But it’s a cliché for a reason – seeing the entire city lit up at night below you is breathtaking. The Observation Deck is a great place to get cozy with your date while you take in the view.

3. The Rink at Bryant Park (Glee)
What’s more romantic than a glide on the ice for Valentine’s Day? Wish for snow and the moment will be even more romantic. This is the rink where Blaine surprised Kurt with a visit to New York for the holidays – and a romantic duet of White Christmas – on the hit TV show Glee.

4. Café Lalo (You’ve Got Mail)
Visit the romantic Upper West Side café where Joe realized Kathleen was the woman behind the screen name in You’ve Got Mail. Meet your date here with a rose to recreate the romantic atmosphere from the movie.

5. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (When Harry Met Sally)
Wander through this giant museum and explore art from around the world. Make sure to visit the Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing where Harry realizes he might like Sally as more than a friend in the Nora Ephron’s classic rom-com When Harry Met Sally.

About the writer: Anjuli has been a TV/movie fangirl for as long as she can remember and a loyal OLTer since she was 16. She loves most television shows, but some of her favorites are Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Blacklist, and Person of Interest. She enjoys tracking down productions on the streets of NYC and probably spends too much time thinking about the lives of fictional characters.
